Retro Chic or Uber Geek?
Traditionally when old meets new, old loses out and is either thrown out or kept in a box of bits in a tech graveyard that inhabits the ‘elsewhere’ reagion of the universe never to be heard from again. Hold on though, what if the old could somehow be saved? What if we prefer the old but need the new? There is an answer so fear not and it comes in the form of ‘merging’.
It sounds simple really… take a new piece of kit and merge it with and old design. My favorite of these has to be a lego block that was turned into a USB pen drive. Fantastic!
That was until I saw this. At first glace it seems like an ordinary NES control from back in the day or real gaming. Take a closer look… you see that little infra-red led sticking out of its perfectly formed rectangular body? That my friends is the clue that there is more here than meets the eye. In fact a merger has whacked an Apple Remote inside this old relic and revitalised it. People, meet the NESmote.

It uses the D-pad for menu navigation and the A and B buttons are play and pause. This has restored my faith in the classics.
Now… where did I put my Sega Megadrive…
