Offline Portfolio Concept
Added Saturday, May 31st, 2008 07:21 pm GMT +1
I have been trying to come up with a design for an offline portfolio. Here are a few pages from the latest concept. I created them in illustrator and not in InDesign as I have done previously as I seem to get on better with Illustrator. Let me know what you think.
Just Buttons Moved Around?

Adobe have released betas of some key apps due to be released as part of CS4. I hope that performance has been improved and some interesting new features added because I’m really not a fan of trying to figure out how to do something I know how to do in CS3 but can’t in CS4 [...]
Flash…! Ohhhhh…!
Added Friday, May 30th, 2008 07:11 pm GMT +1
Flash is finally working with MaxMSP, for all the good it is going to do. The Macs in the interaction lab have yet to have Flash Server installed on them and the demo version of MaxMSP is runs out today on everyones laptops. This means that nobody can come in over the weekend and work, [...]
We’ve Got Our Balls Out!
Added Friday, May 30th, 2008 01:05 am GMT +1
Progress until today had been slow and painful with few breakthroughs and a loss of direction recently as well as a feeling that contribution to the project had been lacking on my part. That changed when Javascript was abandoned in favour of Flash as Russell knows a lot of Flash. He progressed quickly through the [...]
Dissertation Synopsis

Is internet privacy giving way to internet security? There is an inherent paradox with security and privacy issues surrounding the internet. They seem to be unable to work in harmony even though their definitions are exclusive of each other. Could this be due to pressures from the music and film industries with regard to file? [...]
Microsoft Surface… “Its a Big Ass Table”
Added Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 06:38 pm GMT +1
I was browsing around YouTube to find some videos about Microsoft surface to post about the actual point of it all as I was discussing today that the only thing you can do with most touch screens is look at photos, resize them and have a really cluttered desktop. Anyway, I came across the promotional [...]
Cam-Trax ‘Any Object Interface’
Added Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 10:42 am GMT +1
Normally when you hear about tracking you just assume that it’s a very expensive piece of kit or a highly sophisticated algorithm. Well Cam-Trax is sophisticated but with its simplicity. The system allows you to control anything you like by tracking an object’s colours. You will understand when you watch the video below. It seems [...]
Touch Screen DJ
Added Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 02:39 am GMT +1
This is a really cool use of touch screens and interactive visuals in a DJ music environment. This would have been great for Rave On Air and it seems to show great use of new digital media taking over again from the ‘analogue world’.

Nice Day For A Camera & Flickr
Added Saturday, May 24th, 2008 03:19 pm GMT +1
I have started using Flickr to manage my photos as WordPress doesn’t do what I want to with any degree of ease so I bought a Flickr Pro account for £12 for a year giving me unlimited space and sets. I am now looking for a good WordPress Flickr plugin so that I can display [...]
Scribbles Will Survive The Paperless Revolution
Added Friday, May 23rd, 2008 01:11 pm GMT +1
It seems everyone is getting on this paperless band wagon these days. Only yesterday I wrote about the new A4 sized E-paper developed by Epson. Well today folks its Wacom (made famous by their drawing tablets) in partnership with E Ink announcing they have made a pen input e-paper. They are describing it as “the [...]
Future Appliance is Recycling Dishes?
Added Friday, May 23rd, 2008 01:08 am GMT +1
I came across this video that shows what plain old-fashion ingenuity can do. The guy from MIT (surprise) thought of everything that a person might need and tried to make a machine that could do it all. This is obviously a prototype but the concept is sound. The principle is to ‘make’ the pates on-demand [...]

Alienware’s overclocked Area 51 ALX to 4Ghz with water-cooling as standard (and as a necessity). Optional extras include 2TB 7200 RaId0 HD! Mmmm… tastey.
Paperless Paper
Added Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 11:04 pm GMT +1
I was reading through my RSS feeds as I so often do and I came across this article which made me realise just how far we have come and how little we need to go to become a completely paperless society. Epson have been developing electronic paper for a while now, previously producing a 7″ [...]
Le Mans Stickers

Every year my Dad and his friends head of to Le Mans to watch the 24 hour race and every year they do something to make it fun. They all drive fancy super-cars and always get a lot of attention so they always like to take advantage of that. Last year I made up some [...]
