Here It Is…
Added Thursday, February 28th, 2008 03:53 pm GMT +1
I have no idea if you need to have Vizard installed for this to work but I have published my application as an EXE file. Click here to download and play around with it. Use the arrow keys to control the ball, press space once to drop the ball, press R to reset everything.
The Final Leg…or Cube…or Whatever
Added Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 11:46 pm GMT +1
Finally everything is almost completed for my presentation tomorrow. Actually I have really liked messing around in Vizard the past few days and it seems as though I’m getting the hang of it… all be it in a very clumsy way. After many IF statements I have finallly managed to get the code to do [...]
Long Live Open-Source
Added Monday, February 25th, 2008 11:35 pm GMT +1
An article reports that today Firefox announced that it had reached a milestone of 500 million downloads of the open-source browser. I think that’s great. I love the whole open-source ethos but I am in a quandary, can you make any money from open-source software? Not that I’m a money hungry tycoon, but Microsoft are [...]
Problems Cubed…
Added Sunday, February 24th, 2008 11:23 pm GMT +1
After not really concentrating on this project for the last month or so since the previous project deadline was set, I have not really progressed as far as I would have liked. There are many things I want to be able to do but I don’t have the time / desire / knowledge to execute [...]
Facebook ‘Prank’ Taken Too Seriously?
Added Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 12:12 pm GMT +1
I know how tempting it is to set up a fake Facebook page and then message your friends with all kinds of abuse or stalker-like behaviour, but have you ever stopped to think what the ramifications could be? Well a Moroccan computer engineer certainly didn’t, although he did sign up to Facebook as Prince Moulay [...]
Customisable Keyboard Finally Available!
Added Friday, February 22nd, 2008 01:05 pm GMT +1
I saw a prototype for this a few years ago and thought it was a genius idea. It’s a keyboard that has OLED screens built into the keys. With the bundled software this means you can change the layout of the keys, what the keys do and even what the keys look like. I saw [...]
‘Traffic Shaping’ Voilates FCC?
Added Friday, February 22nd, 2008 12:52 pm GMT +1
A planned meeting by the FCC has been announced to tackle the problem of ‘traffic shaping’ – the process of ISP’s dictating access to certain websites, services (such as peer-2-peer) and bandwidth – which is apparently in violation of the ‘net neutrality’ policy employed by the FCC. “The issue of net neutrality has come to [...]
Formative Presentation
Added Thursday, February 21st, 2008 01:36 pm GMT +1
I was expecting the presentation to be inclusive of other members of the class, but no it was just each group or individual with Flo and Dave. Valid feedback was received and the main thing I got out of it was that our idea (Myself and Robert Andre) is very VERY large in scope and [...]
Need, Want, Must Have!
Added Thursday, February 21st, 2008 12:16 pm GMT +1
I love gadgets, so whenever a new one comes along, I sit at my laptop drooling over the sleek lines, the glossy finish, the system specs and what it would be like to hold one in my hand… Not once do I think about trivial things like cost. So when I came across this little [...]
The Pirate Bay Not Just Pirates?
Added Thursday, February 21st, 2008 11:51 am GMT +1
Reading this article on El Reg, it made me chuckle. The overall weight of it seems to be that a court judge has ordered a site to be taken down because of nefarious content (no surprise there) and in response to that, the site remains up (no surprise there either). What is surprising is the [...]
How Do You ‘Legally Circumvent’ Copy Protectio...
Added Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 06:52 pm GMT +1
This is how! A wonderful program by doubleTwist called, surprisingly enough, doubleTwist desktop. It synchronises with iTunes or Windows Media Player, getting around their copy protection by converting the DRM files to MP3s in real-time while you listen to them. This means no copyright laws are ‘technically’ being broken. It’s just like recording from the [...]
More Future Apple Goodies
Added Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 06:35 pm GMT +1
As I so often like to blog about Apple’s cool new feature that they have patented I thought I would do the honours with a new offering from the company. This article shows a new ‘customisable’ user touch interface, allowing for gestures using your whole hand to be allocated to different tasks. Original Article Here
Finally… They See Sense
Added Monday, February 18th, 2008 09:05 pm GMT +1
I just read this article which says that ISPs have shot down the governement’s plans to have them block or rigorously monitor a subscriber’s data. “surveillance and privacy laws explicitly forbid ISPs to inspect the contents of data…” “P2P technology is legally utilised in a number of commercial services including [the] BBC…” I am very [...]
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Not Just For Cars
Added Sunday, February 17th, 2008 10:16 pm GMT +1
I found this very interesting article about a hydrogen fuel cell powered phone! Of all things! This is the first live piece of technology I have seen to be powered by such technology other than cars. This leads to the interesting question about what else could be powered by such fuel cells – Laptops? Cameras? [...]
How To Scam eBay… Learn From A Listing?
Added Monday, February 11th, 2008 06:39 pm GMT +1
I came across this piece of eBay GOLD. It’s a seemingly normal listing until you get down to the item description…
